Looking forward to seeing you at Bangkok for APAS 2018.
We are delighted to invite you to the 19th Annual Scientific Meeting of Asia Pacific Arthroplasty Society 2018 (APAS 2018) in Bangkok from 6th to 8th September 2018.
APAS was founded in 1997, aiming to foster social and scientific exchange, to provide a platform for Asian surgeons to present their surgical experience and to encourage exchange scholarship. With the lead from Dr. Rami Sorial, Dr. Parag Sancheti and the joint efforts from past presidents of committee, Asia Pacific Arthroplasty Society has gradually become into a scientific organization with certain world influence. The annual scientific meeting of APAS has attracted reknown surgeons from the whole world each year. Following the success of our previous 18 annual meeting held in Shanghai, Beijing, Xi’an, Phuket, New Delhi, Mumbai, Seoul, Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur, Chengdu and other cities, the 19th Annual Meeting of APAS 2018 will again encourage active interactions between participants during the academic lectures given by reputed and distinguished speakers from all over the world. Other formats like expert exchange, case discussion and free paper submission will also be included.
The scientific programme involves up-to-date knowledge. New diagnostic techniques, robotics assisted surgery, advanced implant design as well as the fixation, bone deficiency, instability and infection for arthroplasty will be addressed. However, your absence will leave the programme incomplete and we sincerely invite you to not only attend the meeting, but also submit your abstracts, which will form the major and important part of the meeting.
The committee with Dr Thanainit Chotanaphuti's efforts is doing our utmost to make the meeting enjoyable and memorable. We look forward to meeting you in Bangkok for the 19th Annual Meeting of APAS in 2018.
Some of the most difficult decisions we make as arthroplasty surgeons is how do we manage the patient with the infected hip or knee replacement. There is no one recipe that guarantees success in eliminating the micro-organism and then repatriating the patient back to a meaningful lifestyle in a short space of time. It is very important therefore to stay current with “best practice” in the management of periprosthetic joint infection and to that effect I am delighted to be welcoming Prof. Javad Parvizi back to the APAS faculty for our ASM in Bangkok. With our other APAS faculty members, many of your concerns will be addressed with evidence based recommendations and ultimately your patients will benefit.
The meeting held over 3 days will focus on many aspects of primary and revision surgery including traditional and new concept techniques and delivered in formats including ICLs, podium presentations, debates, case presentations with expert opinions and video technique vignettes. We have a very wide international faculty that will bring experience and new thoughts to the mix and joined by the well-respected local Thai faculty to blend information into a palatable and digestible formula that each delegate will benefit from. We hope the meal breaks and grand banquet will be just as good!
The scientific committee hopes many will join with our society and come and share in the feast of knowledge that will be made available. Furthermore, there will be free paper sessions for surgeon scientists to present their research and best paper awards will be made for the top 2 presenters.
The organising committee is already furiously planning the conference to ensure its smooth running with a cascade of social events available to compliment the excellent academic program being prepared.
I look forward to meeting with you all in Bangkok in September 2018.
